For the Chef – A Gift Idea for Mom

Designed by New York City chef/restaurateur Suvir Saran, what mom wouldn’t like to dress up her kitchen with a wonderful platter and prepare inspiring dishes from Chef Saran’s newest cookbook? Chef Saran has a fantastic line of kitchen products which can be found online at The Kitchen Store.

Masala American Masala Platters are traditional oval shapes with soft scalloping around the rich, hand-gilded edges. The repeat floral design echoes the wooden block fabric printing method employed in Rajasthan, India as far back as the 12th century. Each platter looks as if a textural fabric featuring a playful scattering of non-stylized flowers, stems, twigs and leaves was painted onto the dish itself. "Jodphur", named after "the Blue City" because of its indigo tinged houses, has an intense indigo background with bright ruby flowers outlined in sapphire. This medium-sized platter which measures 16 3/4" x 11 3/4", is perfect for roasted vegetables, a grain casserole, a meatloaf or chicken entrée. Dishwasher but not microwave safe due to the hand-gilded edges. Made in China by Wade Ceramics.
